NSDL Materials Digital Library Workshop
On September 26, 2006, the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), and its Materials Digital Library (MatDL) Pathway hosted a workshop at NSF Headquarters in Arlington, VA with participants from several Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC). Representatives from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), NSF, NSDL Core Integration, and the MatDL Pathway took part.

MRFN Facilities Management Workshop
The Materials Research Facilities Network (MRFN), with support and encouragement from the MRSEC Program Officers at National Science Foundation, is organizing a 1.5 day workshop to bring together managers of shared multi-user facilities to discuss the efficient operation and evolution of shared facilities and to share unique solutions that individual MRSECs have developed. Shining Light on Matter and Mind Symposium
This Symposium in honor of Eric Mazur aims to bring together a diverse collection of scientists and educators whose career paths have intersected with Eric’s and who share the passion Eric has for science, education and innovation. On the scientific side, the shared focus is the use of light to elucidate complex phenomena in materials while emphasizing the intuitive approach that has often characterized Eric’s contributions to the field.

Electronic Transport in Nanoengineered Materials
This workshop will cover different aspects of the bottom-up design of electronic materials from assemblies of metal and semiconductor nanocrystals, drawing on existing expertise in organic and disordered conductors. These nanocrystalline solids combine unusual optical, electronic, magnetic and themla properties. Potential applications include photodetectors, LED, solar-cells, thermoelectric and printable electronics.
