In collaboration with the Physics Department REU the Center for Nanoscale Science (MRSEC) supports REU students with faculty affiliated with the Center for Nanoscale Science‘s Interdisciplinary Research Groups.

Programs for K-12 students include: A new, week-long program for middle school students who attend Girard College high school. This special program introduces middle school students to various aspects of materials science with the intent of fostering an interest in careers in science and engineering.

Energy and U, a semi-annual outreach program at the University of Minnesota, engages over 10,000 elementary students in science and engineering to inspire future academic pursuits.

Team-RET provides middle school, high school and community college math and science teachers with an intense, six-week period of in-depth  study at the CCMR laboratories with facility managers, faculty, and graduate students. 

The Fleet Science Center partners with UC San Diego MRSEC to enhance community engagement through diverse workshops and events, showcasing materials research and fostering public discourse in science.

The UC San Diego MRSEC's RIMSE program provides educational kits, such as silicone microlenses and quantum dots, facilitating hands-on learning in materials science for outreach activities.

The Polk Brothers Mathematics Program and MRSEC offer professional development for teachers, focusing on applied mathematics in materials science and innovative STEM teaching strategies for K–12 education.

MEM·C fosters industry and national lab partnerships to enhance idea exchange, accelerate material translation, promote collaborations, and prepare trainees for contemporary industry needs.

The CDCM FUSE Program engages first-year undergraduates in materials science research, providing mentoring, skills development, and community support through hands-on projects and specialized coursework.

The OSU CEM PREM program, in collaboration with CSULB, focuses on enhancing materials research and education partnerships to support student development and faculty productivity in diverse research areas.
