The International Center for Materials Resarch (ICMR) at UCSB awards International Research Fellowships to support research visits to non-US laboratories for graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty affiliated with US Institutions.

The NSF-sponsored REU program at Penn State gives undergraduate students from across the nation the opportunity to participate in frontier materials research at a major research facility.

The University of Minnesota MRSEC will provide up to 25 full-time summer research positions to undergraduate students through the REU program.

CCAM will invite local two-year and four-year students to participate in the boot camp. Boot camp instructional content is available publicly each year after the REU program is completed.

The goal of APS CUWIP is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas.

Eureka! is a five-year program for girls in the Twin Cities, emphasizing STEM fields while fostering sisterhood and supporting high school graduation and post-secondary education preparedness.

The I-MRSEC has established close collaborations with industry and national labs, to expedite adoption of ground breaking technologies, stimulate new ideas, and also to provide career training opportunities for MRSEC participants. Collaborations with companies such as Western Digital, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, IBM, and Lam have enriched research activities, as well as helped prepare MRSEC students and postdocs for industry career paths through interactive events and seminars. National lab collaborations include nearby Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Lab, Army Research Laboratory, US Naval Research Lab, Los Alamos National Laboratory, NIST, and NREL; these connections have helped create valuable career panels and seminars on this career path as well. The I-MRSEC also hosts interactive events on campus for materials characterization companies and local industry during an interactive poster session each summer at the start of MRL’s annual Advanced Materials Characterization workshop.

The Forward Fellows Program at UW-Madison supports graduate students in STEM by providing early research opportunities, community building, and professional development activities before the official start of their programs.

The Penn State Center for Nanoscale Science, in collaboration with The Franklin Institute and Masterminds Agency, launched Mission: Materials Science, an interactive website exploring innovative materials behaviors and technologies.
